Relational & Depth-Oriented Mental Health.
Offering relational psychodynamic therapy and supportive services in Oregon & Washington.
Dr. Shelby is passionate about entering into the depths and carving out an intentional space that cultivates curiosity and authentic connection. As a relational psychodynamic therapist, Dr. Shelby’s approach to therapy focuses on long-term transformational change through the context of relationship. She engages her patients with a balance of acknowledging suffering and challenging difficult patterns to facilitate each persons own unique healing.
Dr. Shelby prioritizes the authenticity of the moment, attending to and unlocking conscious and unconscious patterns of how we relate to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us. She utilizes a soft but direct approach to explore with each patient what it means to increase awareness into their own needs, wants, and to increase agency in their own lives.
In therapy, she values curiosity and spontaneity, a desire to reflect, and the uniqueness of being truly present with one another. Dr. Shelby’s approach is typically a good fit for individuals who are interested in developing a longer term treatment and commitment or for those desiring more from therapy.

Psychodynamic therapy is a relational evidence-based approach derived from Psychoanalytic theory.
This approach emphasizes present emotion, being known in relationship, increasing insight into personal history, and an exploration of conscious and unconscious patterns with curiosity.
Psychodynamic therapy is often longer-term and depth-oriented.
